Did you have negativistic age? What do you think about negativistic age? When I was teenager, I often heard that my friends quarreled with their parents and said "I hate my mother!" or "I hate my father!". Most of teenagers pass the negativistic age to grow up and many people have it negative image. Negativistic age is thought the period of appearing the attitude of denial. Usually negativistic age appears infants about two or three years old and youth of age from twelve to fifteen years old. So the former is called the first negativistic age and the latter is called the second negativistic age generally. The infant of the former is called terrible twos and horrible threes in America. For example, the infants of the first negativistic age repel for seniors, including their parents, which say no!! for all and ignore the instruction on purpose in Japan and America. The negativistic age shows to grow up their ego. In the second negativistic age, it is difficult in Japan and America.
In Japan, when many teenagers are in the second negativistic age, they oppose their parents and teachers because they mount a spirit of independence, their pride and identity. According to the research of Dai ichi Mutual Life Insurance, the 59.8 percents of parents who had grown up teenagers had experienced their negativistic age. For example, they say baba-(the terrible word for mother in Japanese) for their mother, when they oppose her. In addition, when they come home from school, they stay at their own room and play game, read a comic, listen music and more, without saying Im home. In the worst cases, they use violence on their parents. However one researcher says that the second negativistic age is different to happen because increase families such friends which parents never scold for children and teachers who dont scold for students because they dont want to be hated by their.
Meanwhile in America, the negativistic age is involved in the car society. When Americans children want to go to somewhere, they cant go without taking their parents, although Japanese children can go anywhere by themselves own by a bus and a train. For example when they want to go to movie, shopping, they have to take there by parents. Surprisingly, even when they date, their parents see off. Therefore they learn that they cant go to anywhere if they make their parents angry. Of course they quarrel with their parents but they dont say terrible words for them such as Japanese teenager. If they say terrible word for them, they tend to join the class of anger management, (which means to control to control of temper). In America, for the period called negativistic age in Japan, many American teenagers tend to try to drink, smoke, and drug, from their curiosity and fellow feeling, not oppose their parents.
